What is VelaShape® III and how does it work?
VelaShape® III is an FDA-cleared, non-invasive body contouring device. The applicator draws a fold of skin into its head, rollers massage it, and infrared light and bipolar radio frequency gently heat the tissue — all in the same pass. In the US it is cleared for the temporary reduction in the appearance of cellulite and of thigh circumference; the full list is in the regulatory note below.
Does VelaShape® III actually work?
Honestly: the published results are measurable but modest and temporary. Trials reported improvement in thigh cellulite and reductions in circumference for many — not all — participants. We summarise the key studies above, including the unflattering ones, so you can decide on real numbers rather than marketing claims.
Is VelaShape® III painful?
No. VelaShape® III is generally well-tolerated. Patients often describe the sensation as similar to a warm deep tissue massage. Some may feel mild discomfort due to the heat, but this usually subsides after the treatment.
How many VelaShape® III sessions do I need?
Most clients begin to notice improvements after 3 to 6 sessions with VelaShape® III, and we generally recommend a series of 6 or more. The exact number depends on the treatment area, your skin and the degree of cellulite. Results vary between individuals and are temporary, so maintenance sessions help hold your progress.
How long is a session, and is there any downtime?
Each VelaShape® III session lasts 50 minutes, and there is no downtime — you can return to your daily routine immediately. Some clients notice temporary warmth or redness in the treated area, which usually settles within a few hours.
How long do VelaShape® III results last?
Results are temporary. Cellulite can return, especially if diet and activity stay the same, and the published studies measured results weeks to months after treatment — not years. Your therapist will suggest a maintenance schedule after your first series.
Does VelaShape® III reduce fat or tighten skin?
No. Its US clearances are about appearance and thigh circumference, not fat removal, and it is not a weight-loss treatment. We do not claim abdominal circumference reduction — that belongs to a different device. If loose or crepey skin is your main concern, Venus Legacy leads with firmness.
How is VelaShape® III different from Venus Legacy?
Both cost the same and both treat cellulite. VelaShape® III combines infrared light, bipolar radio frequency, vacuum and mechanical massage, and leads with smoothing and circumference. Venus Legacy uses multipolar radio frequency, Pulsed Electro Magnetic Fields and VariPulse™ suction, and leads with skin firmness. Neither is better overall — your therapist assesses your skin and goals at your consultation and confirms the right choice.
Can I book VelaShape® III on its own, or add it to a cellulite treatment?
Both are possible. For most people we recommend adding it to the full cellulite treatment — the hands-on protocol works the tissue by hand, and the device adds a different kind of energy on top in the same 50-minute visit.
